The Piscataqua River Bridge, which connects Portsmouth and Kittery, Maine, was closed on Thursday morning following the discovery of an 8-year-old’s death in the car of a man who had been shot and killed during a police confrontation.
According to the Attorney General’s Office in New Hampshire, detectives think the event had something to do with a lady who died in Troy.
Authorities say that sometime during the night, a man killed a woman of adulthood at a Troy home before driving to the Piscataqua River Bridge.
According to officials, the man was shot and killed by police during an early-morning confrontation on the bridge on Thursday. Because of the police involvement in the shooting, the Maine Attorney General’s Office will be looking into it.
Around 4:50 a.m., a News 9 crew heard what sounded like gunshots coming from the bridge.
Authorities on the bridge reported discovering an eight-year-old fatally shot inside the man’s car. The specific circumstances surrounding this incident are still being looked into, according to the authorities.
There isn’t a known threat to the public, according to the Attorney General’s Office.
